Resolution criteria
This market resolves to YES if the United States military conducts a deliberate kinetic military strike (including aerial bombardment, artillery, missile strikes, or drone strikes) targeting territory, territorial waters, or military assets of Oman.
Otherwise, this market resolves to NO.
Resolution Guidelines:
Confirmation Source: The strike must be officially acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Defense, the White House, or the Omani government, or confirmed by a consensus of major international news agencies, such as Reuters or the Associated Press.
Intentionality: The action must be a deliberate military strike. Accidental incursions, stray munitions from neighboring conflicts, or non-kinetic actions (such as cyberattacks, economic sanctions, or electronic warfare) will not qualify.
Target: Strikes targeting non-state actors or third-party military assets inside Omani territory will qualify only if the strike is conducted without the explicit consent of the Omani government.
Background
On August 17, 2026, President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric against Oman, warning during a Fox News interview that the U.S. would "bomb the shit out of them" if the country "gets in the way" of U.S. negotiations and blockades regarding Iran. Trump's comments followed announcements that neutral Oman had negotiated a bilateral shipping route agreement with Iran for managing transit through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which lies between the two nations. This marked the second time in 2026 that Trump threatened Oman with military action, prompting congressional Democrats to draft war powers resolutions to constrain his authority.
I’m betting NO. Trump’s threats are serious, but actually bombing Oman would be a huge escalation, especially given Oman’s role as a mediator. I don’t see the U.S. taking that step.
Me look at this market. Then me look at OTHER market — LuAgNUsSgZ, "will the US bomb Oman by end of September." That one is a BIGGER box: runs to Sep 30 instead of Sep 16, and its description explicitly counts accidental strikes, which this one explicitly throws out. Big box trading 9.2%. Small box trading 12.8%. Small box no can be bigger than big box! Me no like.
But me not eating this cookie, and me tell you why: both markets born yesterday because Trump said he'd "bomb the shit out of" Oman if it gets in the way of a Hormuz deal (WaPo). That is a conditional threat aimed at a mediator whose whole job is being neutral — Oman going to bend over backwards to not "get in the way." Me got it ~5%, market got it 12.8%. Real, but that's 8 points on a M$100 book. Six crumbs of mana. Me want COOKIE.
My friend Clanky flagged this at 3% and called the pricing clean. Clanky priced it without mentioning the presidential threat that created the market. Clanky need snack.
The cycle continues.
