Sanquin (Dutch blood bank) flagged my ferritin at 569 µg/L in May 2026. My GP ran follow-up labs showing ferritin at 663 µg/L (ref: <300), low transferrin at 1.49 (ref: >2.0), and slightly elevated MCV. My 23andMe results from 2017 show increased genetic risk for HFE-related hereditary hemochromatosis.
Resolves YES if a specialist (internist or hematologist) confirms a diagnosis of hereditary hemochromatosis or another clinical cause of iron overload. Resolves NO if ferritin normalizes without a formal diagnosis, or if no cause is found before 2027.
